A new variety of poverty has arrived at the doors of Paris, in its southern suburb. The inhabitants of these new slums come from Moldavia. Fleeing the poverty in their country and admitted to France as political refugees, they arrive with no means of making a living. In order to survive, just one solution: burglary, car theft, prostitution, hold-ups of every nature….We followed the BAC police from the Val de Marne department around the Paris suburb for several weeks with the objective of filming their daily life and, through them and their missions elucidating some of the illnesses of our society. Who can know the delinquents—their habits, their motivations, their conditions of survival—better than these policemen?
