TRENDY, GREEN, POPULAR: THE CRAZE FOR CAMPING | M6 | Zone Interdite

In 2009, 6 million French people enjoyed the delights of camping. A form of vacation popular in the past and which is now attracting people of every class and every generation. Camping on the beach or up the mountain, with the gang or alone, in relaxed mode or adventure mode, we shared the lives of several families who spend the summer camping. We also investigated behind the scenes, with the professionals whose job it is to manage everyday life in these mini-towns that can accommodate more than 5,000 holidaymakers. As they have during every summer for the last 15 years, 5 families from the Nord department meet to pitch their tents on the campsite at Marseillan-Plage. Despite the crowds, they participate with enthusiasm in all the activities: aqua gym, Look-alike parties or Miss Camping competitions. Eric and Michèle left their older children in the Nièvre to make a cycling tour of Europe with their youngest one on the luggage rack. It’s an unbelievable challenge: with only 10 Euros a day to live on, they are at the mercy of the least little incident. We followed them to the shores of the Baltic. Sébastien and his wife, Anne-Sophie, are wine growers. To make ends meet they tried to open a campsite in the Drôme, but the work got behind schedule and they are deeply in debt. Will they get permission from the authorities to open in time and pay back the bank? A round trip Paris-Beijing-Paris, is the mad adventure undertaken by 50 French camping car enthusiasts. They have 3 months to cover more than 33,000 km! We met them in Kazakhstan, in Beijing and in Mongolia. Vincent, an estate agent from Bordeaux, took along his wife and 2 children. Will they manage the trip?
