Tsunami in Asia | M6 | Zone Interdite
On December 26, 2004, one of the greatest natural catastrophes of all times hit Asia. The murderous tsunami killed over 200,000 people, mainly in Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka and Thailand. A third of the victims of this tragedy were children. In Indonesia, in the region of Banda Aceh, our film crew took a special interest in the ?orphans of the Tsunami.? In Thailand, where many Western tourists were on holiday, our crew followed Laurent Le Baub, French, who came from Bordeaux to try to find his uncle, his aunt and his cousin, all of whom vanished from the paradisiacal beach of Phuket. After two days of searching amid the cadavers and the ruins of the city, Laurent Le Baub returned to France without hope of ever seeing again the three people dear to his heart. In Sri Lanka, our crews accompanied a fisherman who lost everything in the tragedy: his wife, his two children, his house, his work. Like a lot of others, this young man took refuge in a Buddhist temple where the monks did what they could to provide help. But there isn?t much food and he first must reconstruct himself before he finds the strength to reconstruct his house and then his life.
