THE SURGEON PAEDOPHILE | M6 | 66 minutes

Joël Le Scouarnec may well lend his name to the biggest case of paedophilia ever discovered in France. Now 68, this surgeon could have been active since the 1980s. Documents discovered at his house in Jonzac near Saintes, in particular hand-written notebooks containing descriptions of rape scenes, sexual assaults and his psychological perversions, indicate more than 200 potential victims. These notebooks and other staggering objects were found during a search a few months back. He was arrested two years ago following accusations from a neighbouring 6-year-old girl after she had been sexually assaulted. For 30 years the man had practised in Touraine, Brittany and finally in Charente-Maritime. Using statements from several of his victims, we retrace his path and his operating method. This visceral surgeon often stalked hospitals after an operation. He assaulted his young, semi-conscious victims in the recovery rooms. And yet he had already been convicted of possession of child pornography images in 2005. How was he able to continue practising with children?  And how do his young victims, especially those who discover they were raped 20 years after the event, go about rebuilding their lives? Some of them were not really aware, but their names feature in the notebooks. An investigation into the surgeon of horror.
