The Leulmi Case: seducer or predator? | Enquêtes criminelles | W9

It is without doubt the most incredible case of the last 10 years that has just been heard before the assize courts of Versailles. In the dock is a young 34-year-old man dubbed by the press “the Bluebeard of the Essonne”: Jamel Leulmi. Accused of murder, attempted murder, theft and insurance fraud, this handsome, muscular, shaven-headed lad proclaims his innocence, saying that he is the victim of an unfortunate combination of circumstances. Challenging him are his accusers: the mother of Kathleen, his first wife, who met her death in a cycling accident in 2007, and Julie Derouette, a young single mother, who was also victim of a road accident in 2009 from which she miraculously escaped. Two women who both fell madly in love with Jamel and who both agreed to sign life insurance contracts worth several million euros and whose sole beneficiary was the man they believed was there Prince Charming. Love at first sight, intense romancing, proposal of marriage, the signing of five insurance contracts and then a road accident. On both occasions Leulmi’s modus operandi was identical. So, is the handsome seducer both a murderer and a swindler or is he a Don Juan, victim of his love of women?
