The Lucie Aubert Case | M6 | 66 minutes

It’s Wednesday, August 13 and the day is quietly coming to a close in Le Havre when tempers suddenly flare on the platform of the tramway station “La Mare-au-Clerc” between Lucie Aubert, aged 18, and three of her former classmates. Reacting to insults, Lucie strikes one of the girls twice. The tension mounts a definite notch when the younger brother of the girl, a resident of a nearby housing project tower, appears. In no time, the 15-year-old returns home and takes a kitchen knife. Around 7 PM, Lucie is stabbed three times in the stomach as stunned onlookers stand by. Despite the rapid intervention of the emergency services, Lucie dies the next morning in hospital. Was this just some simple argument between girlfriends that turned into tragedy? If so, then how do you explain such an unleashing of violence in the heart of a project that is reputed to be peaceful? Why did the young man, unknown to the police, react so violently? Why did the relationship between Lucie and the teen killer’s sister, who is still in hospital following the violent brawl, deteriorate progressively to the point of becoming unbearable? Could Lucie’s killing have been premeditated? Maryse Haubert, the victim’s mother, hasn’t a second’s doubt. For her, this was a “carefully orchestrated crime”. So Lucie must have walked into an ambush… A silent march in memory of Lucie, organized by her best friend, Mathieu Huet, was held on Saturday, August 16 in the presence of Lucie’s parents and her three brothers. Her killer has been placed in detention in the prison center at Saint-Aubin-Routot.
