The killing of baker Jérôme Kana: cold revenge or foul execution? | M6 | 66 minutes

The rustic hamlet of Bischoffsheim, deep in the heart of the Alsace countryside, is stunned. One question is troubling everybody’s mind: why was Jérôme Kana, the 22-year-old baker, a family man and a father, shot in the back and killed on March 4? In this normally peaceful village tension is mounting because the local gendarmes have arrested the presumed killer: a 17-year-old. Investigators are working on the theory that the minor, who comes from the neighboring small town of Molsheim, was a thief looking for objects of value and that he shot Kana, who had been putting him up for several days, while he was asleep. His loot: a car, a plasma screen and a gaming console. However, the Kana family does not believe that theft was the motive. According to family and other friends of the young man, who was a keen fan of body building and on-line gaming, the killer did not select his victim by chance. Jérôme worked in a shop in Molsheim and they say he had already been the victim of several minor assaults… including some from the presumed killer. A third theory is that of a settling of scores relating to debts from on-line gaming. An investigation into a mysterious killing.
