SOLOGNE: THE PLAYGROUND OF THE SUPER-RICH | 66 minutes | M6

Salbris, La Ferté-Saint-Aubin, Chaumont-sur-Taronne, Cerdon-du-Loiret…
Do these towns mean nothing to you? That’s perfectly normal — unless you belong to the very exclusive club of the ultra-wealthy.
At this time of year, every weekend brings a parade of luxury cars, nearly all bearing Paris license plates.
Just ninety minutes from Paris, Sologne — long known for its tranquility, discretion and game-filled forests — has in recent years become the favorite retreat of CAC 40 executives, business success stories and multimillionaires.
Among them: casino magnate Benjamin Tranchant, the Wertheimer brothers of Chanel, restaurant tycoon Olivier Bertrand, and celebrity hairstylist Franck Provost.
These wealthy landowners are helping drive the local economy: ultra-exclusive golf courses, game-meat processing workshops, and dozens upon dozens of new jobs.
But some of their practices are sparking growing resentment.
Massive fences trapping wildlife, soaring land prices, farmers unable to find buyers to take over their operations… tensions are rising.
In Sologne, where access is becoming increasingly exclusive, a new saying has emerged:
“If you don’t go hunting, you lose your place.”
