Show cattle and first class products: the champions of the Agricultural Show | M6 | Zone Interdite

Every year the Agricultural Show is the top event that for some can change everything! Zone Interdite brings you the fabulous story of five French farmers. Men and women who are holding out in a world of farming crisis. They explain their production secrets and their family stories. They all have the same dream: win a prize in the Open Competition of the Paris Agricultural Show. A medal can totally change their future! Aged 16, Antoine is the son and grandson of a farmer. At high school during the day, he takes care of the family herd as soon as he can. Amongst the animals on the farm is Fêtard, a pedigree Rouge des Prés” bull. Antoine has been taking care of him since he was a boy and this year the young man has taken it upon himself to enter him for the Agricultural Show in the “Heaviest bull in the world” category. Weighing in at 1,850 kilos, Fêtard is already a fine beast, but he needs to put on 73 kilos in a few months to beat the record set by his father! Antoine and his bull are going to need to work hard. Victory in Paris is essential: the reputation of the family farm depends on it. Geraldine and Emilie, both farmers and mothers sometimes find it difficult to reconcile work with family. Their farms keep them busy day and night. Géraldine breeds goats and is a perfectionist cheese maker producing delicious picodons in the hope of entering the Show. Her nightmare: the health inspections. She’s dreaming of a medal at the Show in order to boost her sales. Emilie produces top quality organic olive oil in Upper Corsica. Her oil is already used by top chefs and sold in the best grocery stores, but Emilie wants to win new markets and the Show is golden opportunity. However, with unfavourable weather conditions and bacteria devastating the Italian olive groves, she is faced with one problem after another. Will her olive oil meet the demands of the Show? And Marion and Alain breed “Prim’Holstein” cows, the Rolls of milk production. For years they have been crossing their finest cows in order to enter cattle shows. This year, two heifers have been chosen for the Show. They will be pampered for days, without any concern for the time spent. Will this devotion be enough to persuade the judges and bring home the ultimate distinction?”
