Right behind young drivers, the over 65s are the population most at risk on French roads. Sight, hearing, reflexes, concentration: with age they all deteriorate and that can sometimes cause accidents and tragedies. Yet, France has never introduced compulsory checks for seniors, unlike the majority of their European neighbours, who require a medical examination and a driving test from a certain age. So how can you know if you are fit to drive safely, for yourself and for others? And should the driving licence be issued for life?
