Dolce vita, pasta and parties: a summer in Italy | M6 | Zone Interdite

Italy is still one of the favourite holiday destinations of the French. The fifth most popular tourist country in the world attracts nearly 40 million visitors every year. Sumptuous festivals, listed sites, wine and pasta, the Italian life style remains as fascinating as ever. Zone Interdite’s cameras set down during a summer in the land of Dolce Vita. On the mythical isle of Capri, we discovered Januaria, an Italian aristocrat who is preparing for her wedding. A Marchesa and former model, she is a celebrity in Italy. She is marrying Lucas, a corporate lawyer much younger than she is. All of high society will be there and the paparazzi will be on the alert. In Tuscany, region of vines and olives, much appreciated by tourists, we followed the challenge taken up by Eric, a Frenchman who has invested all his savings in opening a bed and breakfast. However, numerous obstacles have nearly ruined his life’s dream. It’s also in the heart of Tuscany that we find Sienna. The city with its 17 quarters. Every year, for the last four hundred years, these quarters confront each other in a wild and Dantesque horse race. The race, the Palio, is a veritable institution here. For centuries the rules have remained the same: there aren’t any. To win, anything goes and falls are frequent! We also shared the lives of holidaymakers on a very popular campsite in Apulia, an arid region in the south of Italy. The family and festive atmosphere loses nothing by comparison with the major campsites of the south of France.
