CAMPSITE, THE FAMILY MEETING GROUND IN THE CAMARGUE | 6ter |

Set in pine woods just yards from the Mediterranean, the Jardins de Tivoli campsite hosts more than 1,800 holidaymakers each week. There are spots for tents and camper vans, but also luxury chalets: something for every pocket. Géraldine and Guillaume, a couple from Lyon, have been regulars for 15 years. They already have three children and Mum is eight-months pregnant so stinting on comfort is out of the question: they have booked a top-end bungalow. And while Mum relaxes on the beach, Dad and the kids go fishing and jet-skiing. Laurent, Magalie and their three girls are discovering this campsite for the first time. This family with a modest income has set up under canvas. With bubbly good humour they are going to join in all the activities and enter all the competitions! Their eldest, Angeline, 13, is even going to spend her first evening in a club! Every year Maxime comes here from Belgium with his gang of pals, but this year they are more than twenty! It’s impossible to miss them: around the pool, in the restaurant and at evening events they create a non-stop atmosphere. And they’re not slow to measure up to the local boules champion, 67-year-old Claudio, aka “Uncle”!
