Behind the scenes at the Agricultural show | France 5 | Camera 5

The Agricultural Show is one of the most popular events in France. In 2004, the Agricultural Show attracted more than 700,000 visitors. At the end of February, the exhibition halls at the Porte de Versailles become “the biggest farm in the world” – 2000 animals, 700 stockbreeders and producers, thirty participating countries ? How do the farmers prepare for their trip to Paris? What economic stakes does the show represent for them? How is an exhibition hall transformed into an immense farm? What happens at night when the doors are closed to the public? A festive atmosphere which doesn?t prevent the farmers from sometimes expressing a real uneasiness. Penetrating behind the scenes of the Show is also an encounter with the French farmers and a way of understanding their daily problems. Camera 5 followed them several weeks before and during the nine days of the Agricultural Show, taking us right behind the scenes of the event. For this 85-minute film, exceptional measures were taken. Right there at the Show, two editors and a editor-in-chief show the rushes from day to day so as to present the film right as it?s happening. For this documentary will be shown on March 20, just 15 days after the closing of the Agricultural Show.
