At 62, Avi Assouly has already lived a thousand lives: amongst them, suitcase salesman, jean manufacturer and, most notably, sports commentator. With his Mediterranean exuberance and well-rounded, bon vivant’s figure, this Algerian-born from Marseille, who screamed “Goooooal!” into the microphone in Brazilian style, is completely lost in the starchy atmosphere of Parliament. And all because the candidate whose substitute he was went into the Government.
