The XXL Cruise | Doc du dimanche | France 5

It’s the boat that goes beyond all limits, worthy of every superlative. The biggest and the most expensive liner the world has ever built. For several weeks the Oasis of the Seas has been ploughing the furrows of the Caribbean seas. Aboard are 5,400 passengers and 2,000 crew. It’s the size of five airplanes and as high as a twenty-story building. Last year 15 million people throughout the world took a cruise. That’s twice the number of ten years ago. The success of cruises shows no signs of waning, despite the crisis. Aboard the Oasis everything is designed to entertain and surprise the passenger: a surf wave, a rope bridge, a park, a casino, etc. Teams from France 5 and Toni Comiti productions followed the story of the liner for two years, from its construction in Finland to its maiden cruises. Kitchens, laundries, luxury two-story cabins. With demanding passengers and brave hands. A peep behind the scenes of the giant of the seas.
