The war for roses | France 2 | Envoyé Spécial

The rose is the flower which is sold the most in the world. Under its romantic façade it represents a colossal market. Its particularity: it is protected by author’s rights and its creator gets royalties on each rose bush sold. This documentary follows the destiny of one rose bush, the Black Baccara, from its launching in the French district of the Var, passing by Holland where its price is fixed by the Aalsmer stock exchange, and all the way to Equator where it is cultivated in huge quantities for export to the United States.
