Because in Pakistan having a baby girl is seen as a curse: when she marries you have to pay a dowry. So someparents prefer to abandon their babies at birth in dustbins or at the local dump, where they don’t survive for long. However, a humanitarian association has set up these famous cradles of the street. Once a baby is left in one, there’s a frantic race against time to save its life.
