The return of the menial job | France 2 | Envoyé Spécial

With the crisis, more and more menial jobs are cropping up : new trades and services are being set up. These menial jobs are allowing many French people to make ends meet and reorientate after losing their jobs. Sabine, 45, gets up everyday at 4am to take a bus and then a train to get to her new job. She’s a pump attendant at a supermarket petrol station. Claude, 52, worked for years in the rag trade. He’s now hawking newspapers at the Gare du Nord train station in Paris. Mohamed, 32, is “flow controller” on the RER rapid transport system. His job is to allow travellers to spread along the platform and board without too much pushing and shoving. An investigation into those French people whom the crisis has pushed into accepting new menial jobs.
