Cosmetics that promise to turn back the clock, antioxidant dietary supplements, diets or “miracle” pills: today, there’s no escaping what is known as the “anti-aging” trend. As independent test laboratories demonstrate, test after test, the ineffectiveness of anti-wrinkling creams, consumers are spending a fortune on cosmetics⎯the fourth largest sector of our economy. Creams from viper venom, chemical peeling, stem cell injections, commonplace use of laser treatments… What are the latest methods? Why are certain treatments permitted in the United States still banned in France? How much do these operations cost? We carried out an investigation in France, Belgium and the United States and met the patients who are seeking eternal youth.
