THE MONTPELLIER COVERED MARKET | M6 | 66 minutes

Within a few years the Halles du Lez have become the trendiest spot in Montpellier. Designed after the famous Boqueria in Barcelona or the Time Out in Lisbon, its success has been meteoric, with more than 1.5 visitors a year.

Open from brunch to dinner, with a cocktail in between, the space tries to be both family-friendly and hip. The ambition of its designer, Alexandre Tessier, from Montpellier, is to “reinvent the art of eating, meeting and creating.”

Visitors can pick whatever they fancy: some thirty restaurants offer a wide range of special dishes¾French, European, Chinese, Japanese… Outside are food-trucks, second-hand stalls, a skate park, a boules pitch and even a yoga room… All against a backdrop of street-art, which provides the final touch of special character to the area, that of the new ways of eating.
