The Lamy Affaire | M6 | 66 minutes

Patrick Lamy, a well-known estate agent from Crotoy, in the bay of Somme, is found dead in the middle of the street on the night of 4/5 July 2009. At first it is thought to be an assault with a shellfish pick because the victim has two obvious wounds on his throat. However, that theory is soon discarded. The coroner concludes death is due to a heart attack. The case is closed. Three years later, the victim’s parents, convinced that their son did not die of natural causes, ask for the investigation to be reopened. The police discover images from a CCTV camera showing Patrick Lamy walking along quietly then, 28 seconds later, the Lamy’s 4×4 with Carole Lamy, the estate agent’s wife, at the wheel. Fresh medical analyses show that the victim’s wounds could have been caused by collision with a vehicle. And yet no trace of an impact was ever found on the couple’s vehicle. Patrick Lamy’s widow was charged with manslaughter. Currently at liberty, she continues to proclaim her innocence. In the meantime, she is managing her late husband’s affairs. On his death she inherited his entire fortune, estimated to be €10,000,000. A simple road accident or a foul crime? Carole Lamy appears to have had a lover with whom she moved in a short time after her husband’s death. One of her daughters, from a previous marriage, is said to have reported that her mother was the guilty party. A few days later, she retracted her statement. Five years after the tragedy, tongues are loosening. For the first time Patrick Lamy’s parents agree to speak. The firefighter who tried to ressucitate the estate agent, the victim’s best friend, and former colleagues of Carole have agreed to revisit the affair that shook the little harbour town of Crotoy to its foundations.
