It’s a story that would make a top Hollywood screenwriter turn green with envy. A story of love, blood and jealousy. It all begins in Valence, on February 28 2011. A businessman goes to report to the police that one of his construction supervisors, Maël Combier, has gone missing. The 22-year-old is married and his wife is expecting a baby. So how do you explain why this father-to-be disappeared two days before? Another concern is that, at the same time, Samira Ben Saad, a 20-year-old woman is also reported as missing for the last 48 hours. Her mother is extremely anxious. Chance or coincidence? The gendarmes quickly learn that the two young people knew each other, with good reason: for some months Samira has been Maël’s mistress. So the gendarmes imagine that the two lovers are simply having a good time and there’s no cause for alarm. However, a few days later, they are informed by their Italian counterparts that Samira’s body has just been discovered near a garbage dump in the Imperia region in the north of Italy, more than 500km from Valence. The young woman has taken a bullet in the back of the head. By some miracle, Samira is still alive and her would-be killer better be worried because soon she’s going to start talking…
