Summer in Paris | France 2 | Envoyé Spécial

With its 24 million tourists, Paris is the most visited city in the world. In the year 2000 thanks to the strong American dollar, there were even more Americans than the year before (10 % more). During three weeks in Paris we followed special police from the Crime Repression Squad. Our teams filmed three instances of pick-pocketing live. We also followed Patricia Finlay, a rich American who comes every year at the beginning of summer to buy during the sales and to see the Haute Couture collections. There is also the Japanese couple, recently legally married in Japan who came to Europe to have a second non-official ceremony for the thrilling memory of it. We also followed a group of tourists from the French region of Aveyron, most of whom had never seen Paris and who wanted to come for the Bastille Day ceremonies. Another group of Belgian tourists came to see the little women of Paris,” ending up in a tourist-trap cabaret exclusively frequented by foreigners traveling in groups.”
