SPRINGTIME IN DEAUVILLE | M6 | 66 minutes

This year the tradition will once more be observed: at the beginning of April, with the return of the fine weather, the Normandy” will be at the center of the new season in Deauville. For more than 100 years since it opened in 1913, the Normandy, the second oldest grand hotel in France, has been the barometer of the coastal resort town. With its 259 rooms and 31 suites spread over a vast domain with incredible Anglo-Norman architecture, the Normandy is unlike any other hotel. It welcomes a clientele of regulars, some of whom have come as a family for 3 or 4 generations… Parisians, but the English, too. Because Deauville is something of a back garden for the wealthier English. Surprising as it may seem, there is an international airport almost entirely focused on England.  When one is a Londoner, just as when one is Parisian, the weekend in Deauville is a must, with its beach, its restaurants and its famous nightclub, the disco-deauville. Pre-season preparations leave nothing to chance: a final touch up to the paintwork, a check that all infrastructures are functioning correctly. We have access to every corner of the hotel with Marc Jean, head barman for over 20 years, with concierge Dominique, who knows all the secrets of his guests. We also go shopping with the high-class restaurant’s chef, who buys his produce from local growers and fishermen. The Normandy is the barometer of Deauville: when the Normandy thrives, Deauville thrives. At just two hours from Paris, it’s one of the nearest accesses to the sea for the 9 million Parisians… and one of the foremost coastal resorts in France.”
