SETTLING SCORES IN THE FAMILY | M6 | 66 minutes
It was a fine wedding in Revesaltes, in the Languedoc-Roussillon. And it ended with two deaths. Doctor Jean-Charles Mesmer had married Anne-Marie, the daughter of a major wine grower in the region. He had even handed over his fine property to the couple. In August 2008, after a family dinner, Anne-Marie collapses with a ruptured aneurysm. Because of his son-in-law’s strange behaviour at the time of the tragedy, the old wine grower begins to nurture his suspicions. And when, a mere few months after the death of Anne-Marie, the doctor introduces a new partner to the conjugal bed, the father-in-law imagines that his son-in-law must have found some underhand way of causing the death of his wife. On July 20 2010 the wine grower puts on a hood, takes his hunting rifle and shoots his son-in-law down.
