If there’s one sector that is not suffering from the crisis and that is even getting an advantage from it, it’s the second-hand car market. There were nearly 5 million sales last year compared with less than 2 million in the new car market. Both personal and private buyers are getting great deals: auctions, buying abroad, and especially on the Internet. The other face of the coin is that with such a wide choice, it’s sometimes difficult for a buyer to find his way. It’s hard to be sure that you’re not being cheated when you are not an expert in the car trade.
