Fabrice is 45. He has two children, a mortgage to pay and… he’s just lost his job. He’s a casualty of the biggest redundancy scheme of the year: 1,600 employees to be laid off by Paru Vendu, the small ads publication. Receipts from advertising at this free paper have melted away like snow in the sun with the advent of Internet advertising and the printers were forced to close the business. Fabrice and his colleagues then decided to occupy the premises to put on the pressure. Their objective: to squeeze a large cheque out of the owner to cushion the blow of unemployment. We followed them for several weeks in their struggle between revolt and resignation.
