Pascal Rigo: the Steve Jobs of the bakery business | M6 | 66 minutes
Pascal Rigo is not your average baker. In a few years this Frenchman, whom the Americans have dubbed the Steve Jobs of the bakery business, has built a small empire. And yet, 15 years ago, Pascal Rigo was still a simple baker in the southeast of France. A few years later he has created his own brand and owns 22 bakeries in San Francisco. He has become the pope of patisserie. So much so that in 2012 the giant of the sector, Starbucks, offers him $100 million for his business and hires him as director of the food division for the whole of the United States. At that time he was running more than 12,000 stores. Today Pascal Rigo is the richest baker in the United States. Yet, 6 months ago, he set himself a fresh challenge: create another bakery chain and set out on the conquest of the supermarkets.
