PAINKILLERS, DEATH ON PRESCRIPTION | M6 | 66 minutes

Sebastien is a survivor. At the age of 47 he became dependent on painkilling medication following a professional accident. He’s just entered a withdrawal programme in a hospital near Rouen. The reason: in high doses these drugs can kill. In the United States they are responsible for 72,000 deaths per year. In France, they cause four deaths per week. Christelle’s daughter died in her room two years ago.  She fought to ban the sale without a prescription of these drugs, derived from opium, known as opioids. She was behind the health warning that led to the Ministerial decree of 2017 banning their sale without prescription. Where are we today? We followed the battles of Sebastien, Christelle and others who are victims of opioids.
