NOVEMBER 13: BROTHERS IN DEATH | M6 | Enquête Exclusive

Nearly all of the November 13 terrorists were French or Belgian, aged between 20 and 31. How could these young men coldly kill 130 people and wound nearly 500? What sort of lives had they led? Why were they radicalized? And how did they organize those attacks?   One thing is sure: there was no typical profile amongst the killers. Some were petty criminals, barely practicing religion, while others were the reverse: no criminal record and extremely devoted to religion. We investigated the histories of five of them: Foued-Mohamed Aggad, one of the Bataclan attackers, Abdel Hamid Abaaoud, one of coordinators of the attacks, Brahim Abdeslam, one of the shooters on the Paris café terraces, his brother Salah Abdeslam, one of the terrorist cell’s logicians, and Najim Laachraoui, the man who made the explosive belts.   To understand how and why these men turned, we gathered evidence from people who had met them along the way: childhood friends, teachers, former colleagues, but also their close friends and families, some of whom are speaking for the first time.   Through the film we thus analyze how their radicalization was brought about. The majority of these young men crossed paths with recruiters. Men who indoctrinated them and persuaded them of the need to go and fight in Syria, using speeches, but also propaganda videos. Finally, this investigation shows how the terrorists organized to prepare for these bloody attacks.
