On next December 14, Sylvie Tellier will give up her crown to the one who will be elected the most beautiful girl of the country for the year 2003. The title of Miss France continues to cause both spectators and participants to dream. The Reportages team has tried to uncover the mechanisms of this formidable dream-making machine. For two months, guided by Geneviève de Fontenay and Sylvie Tellier, Ionut Teianu followed the 48 local winners as a way of going backstage of the décor. The opportunity to meet the candidates who we discover in the regional beauty contests, during photo sessions, meeting with the local press…. Once the selection is made, the Misses embark upon a week long cruise on a ship. Direction Marseilles, Rome, Malta and Valence in Spain. First encounter with the public: 2000 passengers are traveling with them on the ship which gives the Misses a chance to test their talents. Fashion parades and shows are on the program. Make-up, dresses and mythical places, we are completely disconnected from all reality: the dream has begun and everyone believes in it. A genuine immersion into this gilded world where only one happy winner will reach the throne.
