THE AGRICULTURE FAIR: THE GRAND RETURN | M6 | 66 minutes

In 2021, 35 million objects were mislaid in France. Most frequently in the street, in shops and on the Metro. Unfortunately, only 3% were returned to their owners. What’s more, it’s estimated that 5 billion euros vanish into the air.

The agricultural fair is back in style after the 2021 event was cancelled because of Covid. 4,000 animals and more than 1,000 exhibitors set up camp for 8 days in the exhibition park at the Porte de Versailles. Breeders, makers of exceptional products, they all dream of making their mark in the biggest farm in France. Amongst, at just 19, Justine intends to win the Ovinelympics and become the best young shepherd in France. Nadia is betting on her chestnut jams to win the AOP Cévennes producer’s award and why not a medal in the prestigious agricultural competition?

Once again, this year more than 600,000 visitors are expected.

We accompanied the very first of them along the aisles of the fair. is this inevitable? In Marseille a new platform is putting losers into contact with finders. So, has France’s second city found the magic wand? Big backers of high-tech are also moving into the market. Sometimes it just needs a “tracker” badge to trace your desperately missed possession.

Mixing misery with sharp business opportunity on the trail of lost property, we bring you a report from Grégory Cohen.
