KIDS IN CHAOS: WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WITH OUR CHILDREN? | France 3 | Documentaires

Lea, Martin, Ana, Benjamin, Charlotte and Hamza are between 20 and 26 years old. The age when you are looking for your future. For a year, the director filmed young people from all backgrounds, in all four corners of France, who are looking for a job, trying to start their own business or get a diploma while continuing to work. Above and beyond their problems and their attempts to build some sort of future for themselves, they talk without any constraint of the ever-deepening gulf that separates them from preceding generations, of the world of business, of the old world…

And yet the State is spending a fortune on the young: 10.5 billion per year! But it still has no effect: one in four young people is out of work, one in five lives below the poverty level and one in six is totally excluded from the system. Never before has the younger generation been confronted by so much insecurity of employment.

Kids in chaos! Is a plea on behalf of this generation, a cry of distress uttered by young people who are lost and struggling to find their place. There’s anger and incomprehension. But there’s a wind of unexpected optimism blowing too. They are bounding with energy and full of hope. Despite the statistics showing they have little prospect, three out of four young people today say they are confident about their future and believe in a new model in which they will play a role.

In this first episode, they share their hopes and their dreams, but also their fears. How will things be a year later?
