Inside the road accident brigade | 90' Enquêtes | TMC

More than four thousand dead on the roads in 2008. That’s one death every two hours. What are the causes of such violence on the road? Who tracks down the drivers when there’s an accident? What means are available to the investigators? Is the law too lenient? Who sets the compensation rates for the victims? To answer these questions, we filmed the “Central Accident” brigade at work. These are uniformed police officers and detectives who track down drivers and provide support to victims. They are sometimes the bearers of bad news, arriving at the drivers’ homes to announce that the person they knocked down has died. Police and their colleagues work in tandem to throw light on accidents, find the persons concerned and provide the maximum of clues to close the case satisfactorily.
