I reinvented my past | M6 | 66 minutes

Sophie cannot get over the death of her mother; Bernard sees his relationship floundering. To overcome their suffering, they have, along with others, resorted to a rather special psychotherapist, who charges several thousand Euros for a full-time, 3-week intensive course. His detractors accuse him of placing his patients in a situation of dependence: he asks them to live close to his office, eat and sleep as little as possible and to lie naked on his couch. Vulnerable patients are even urged to invent childhood memories that demonise their parents: expectant mother who tries to drive them from her womb, rapist father. During the trial in this case of “induced memories”, Sophie and Bernard accused the psychotherapist of cutting them off from their family and friends so as to get money out of them, something the latter denies, with support from numerous former patients.
