Honey in trouble | France 2 | Envoyé Spécial
Bee-keepers in the Vendée area of France have noticed that since 1995 their bees have been dying, intoxicated by a insecticide, the Gaucho, which has been spread over the flowers from which they gather pollen. The bee-keepers have lost up to 70% of their harvest and are beginning to lose patience. Confronted with this hecatomb, the government has suspended the usage of Gaucho on sunflowers but the new insecticide developed by laboratories to replace it appears to be even worse .We have gone all the way to Hungary, one of the biggest producers of honey, to follow the itinerary of honey: from the bee to the pot which one buys in supermarkets. And to discover after analysis that certain pots of honey don’t keep the promises of their labels
