FRONTLINE VETS: HEROES TO THE ANIMAL RESCUE S3 – E1 | Véto de choc | W9

Whether in cruelty prevention associations, traveling or rural, they devote their lives to the fight to save those of animals. Stephanie Renouvin relates the story of their unusual, often eventful, daily experience. David is a traveling veterinary surgeon. His unique skills are in high demand in all four corners of the Ile-de-France. Every day he attends his colleagues’ clinics to carry out the most complex of surgery, amounting to some hundred operations per month. This time, David has to operate on a tigress’ jaw, an exceptional and dangerous operation! For over 20 years, Sabrina, a devoted animal rights activist, has been fighting to snatch animals from the claws of their cruel owners. In the Ardennes, she goes to the home of a hunting couple whom she suspects of mistreatment. Deplorable hygiene conditions, dogs tethered and sick… she will do all she can to save them. Some 10,000km from France lies Thailand! That’s where Francois has created a refuge for elephants mistreated in tourist camps. With around twenty young people, he cares for his inmates in order to provide them with a decent life again. In France’s 300 zoos, each birth is a challenge. At the Boissière-du-Doré zoo in the Loire-Atlantique, Sebastien, the manager, is highly stressed over a baby giraffe’s arrival in this world. After 15 months gestation, the baby will be making a sensational arrival on earth: a spectacular drop of 3 meters because giraffes give birth standing up. A drop that may have injured one of its hooves…
