INSIDE THE SCHOOL SYSTEM: A SHOCKING INVESTIGATION | M6 | Zone Interdite
More than one in two French people still believe in the public school system. While this system, synonym of social justice, remains a source of pride, it still has to prove itself.
Although the education system appears to have become aware of the bullying suffered by some pupils, setting up listening units and appointing specialist coordinators, violence in schools continues. In cities and in the countryside alike. Fights between pupils, threats against teachers, professionals at breaking point — the pressure cooker is about to explode.
Faced with these tragedies, parents are losing trust, and conflicts are increasingly ending up in court. It is no longer unusual for a decision by the French National Education system, such as an expulsion, to land in the hands of specialist lawyers.
When it comes to learning, French schools are also in decline. Our children’s academic level is alarming. The reason? A crisis in teacher recruitment. To make up for the shortage of candidates, schools are turning to temporary teachers who are far from being up to the job, as they receive no training whatsoever. But the problem also lies in young people’s declining attention spans.
So, should parents send their children to private schools? Is the standard really better, and are teachers more present?
Public schools haven’t had their last word!
