His colleagues admired the super cop who was awesomely effective in solving major crimes. The media also appreciated the “cool customer”, smartly dressed, loved by the camera and talkative. But on September 29, Divisional Commander Michel Neyret goes into free fall: he is thrown into prison just like the countless crooks he had put away. The number 2 detective finds himself indicted for, amongst other things, drug dealing and association with criminals, bringing down with him the anti-gang chief of Lyons and the head of the Grenoble detective squad. By getting a little too close to his informants was Neyret merely imprudent? Or did the cop succumb to the temptation of the life-style of the crooks?
