In the corner of a room full of wrecked furniture, a woman curled up on herself tries to hold back her tears. “He knocks me around but I am too ashamed. I don’t dare say anything.” In spite of the laws, in spite of the growing equality between the sexes, conjugal violence continues to be a scourge which destroys the lives of thousands of women in France. After years of silence, even indifference, the police services are beginning to listen. The agents are a little better informed but especially they are younger and more sensitive to the problem. This is the case notably in Paris and Toulouse where this report was shot.
