Commando Vacations | France 2 | Envoyé Spécial
Up at dawn, obstacle courses, running through the mud, abdominal sets, meagre rations… all this under the brutal orders of the instructors! Inspired by American military training camps, Boot Camps are being set up in France. The new holiday resorts are attracting a clientele that wants to test its limits or… lose a few pounds. Françoise set up one of the first courses in Antibes in 2009. Her clients are essential female. She imported and adapted the concept of G.I. Ken, a former US Army soldier, whom we met in Tennessee. The Boot Camp concept comes in every form: from the smartest (Camp Biche in the Tarn and Garonne) to the most intense (Camp Pompadour in Corrèze). 34 participants signed up for the latter to follow a program of iron discipline. How many will remain at the end of three days? What are they looking for in this sort of course? Are these new leisure activities free from danger? And are they really holidays?
