February 23, 2002, Ingrid Betancourt, candidate for the Colombian presidency was kidnapped by extreme left guerillas: the Columbia Revolutionary Armed Forces. (CRAF). Ingrid, who is married to a Frenchman, has dual nationality. Her name has now been added to the list of three thousand people kidnapped in Columbia. The guerilla has demanded the release of prisoners held by the government in exchange for the hostages it holds. A few days after her kidnapping, we left to follow Ingrid Betancourt’s trail although French diplomats and the Colombian government no longer have any contact with the man who claimed to have carried out the kidnapping: Fabian Ramirez, commander of the guerilla’s southern front.
