CHRISTIAN VAN EYKEN : THE REPRESENTATIVE, THE MISTRESS AND THE INCONVENIENT HUSBAND | Enquêtes criminelles | W9

When Marc Dellea is found lifeless in his bed in Brussels on July 8 2014 police suspicions quickly turn towards Sylvia Boigelot.

And for good reason, Marc’s partner has been carrying on a long-term extramarital affair with a friend of the couple, a well-known and influential man: Parliamentary representative Christian Van Eyken. What if the lovers had gotten rid of an inconvenient husband? Everything points to this theory, because the building’s video-surveillance system shows that on the night of the murder they left the apartment at 1:20 in the morning… So they were the last people to see the victim alive!

For their part, the two lovers claim that they had absolutely no interest in getting rid of Marc Dellea. According to them, another crime trail was overlooked. Sure enough, a damaged mosquito net could point to someone sneaking into the apartment to attack Marc Dellea. Could the man, a coffee trader, have made enemies? And then the legal teams have been unable to determine the time of the crime precisely: so the victim could have died the day after their visit, not during the night. Finally, and most importantly, there was nothing secret about the relationship between Sylvia and Christian. They had been openly carrying on their affair for years, with the full knowledge and in the sight of Marc!

So, could the law have been wrong about the guilty party? That is what Christian Van Eyken and Sylvia Boigelot proclaim. The couple, now married, have decided to tell their version of the truth to the cameras of “Enquêtes criminelles”.
