Following a fresh attack this week?a bus driver stabbed in Poissy?we investigate the daily lives of drivers on sensitive routes. In the Essonne, to the south of Paris, Xavier works in fear. He drives a bus on the longest route in the Paris region: the “402” which runs through the whole department and some sensitive housing estates. Like his colleagues he is attacked regularly, ‘stoned’ by hooligans who target the buses. And sometimes they even target the drivers. Only last Tuesday, a driver was stabbed in Poissy in the west of Paris, on the pretext that he refused to allow a passenger on board. Why are these drivers the victims of this wave of violence?
