It’s one of the biggest scandals of the Vth Republic. From September 13 to October 1, Alexandre Benalla, Emmanuel Macron’s former righthand man, will appear before the Paris Magistrate Court on charges of “intentional violence” and “fraudulent use of diplomatic passports”. On May 1 2018, Alexandre Benalla, then assistant to the President’s chief of staff, was filmed violently attacking demonstrators on the occasion of the Fête du Travail (Labour Day). Suppressed for a considerable time, the video came to light several months later and unleashed a general outcry. This was the start of his long descent into hell… For months, our reporters investigated this oh, so mysterious character and progressed from one discovery to another. Corruption, money laundering and even suspected close relations with the Kremlin…  Our investigation reveals that there is not one, but several Benalla affairs. For months, we collected exclusive, gripping testimony from his former colleagues at the Elysée, from those close to him and from his most loyal friends… In particular that of Vincent Crase, his mentor and long-term associate, who agreed to speak out for the first time to our cameras. All, without exception, paint the portrait of a crafty and ambitious man, ready to do anything to assuage his thirst for power. An investigation into this son of Evreux who, because he wanted to get close to the highest powers of the State, ended up by burning his wings.
