Barista Championships | M6 | 66 minutes
In Lyon on the weekend of January 28 there is no room for error: the baristas of France face off to see who makes the best cup of coffee in the country! Barista is the latest in-fashion job in the world of café and bistro. In France, 90% of adults drink at least one cup of coffee per day! And the “small black” is moving upscale. Over recent months, major French cities have seen a mushrooming of coffee bars where the customer is greeted in a welcoming ambiance by baristas, who are proclaiming themselves the wine waiters of coffee. With them we learn how to make the best coffee possible and for how much, and we discover all their techniques and secrets during the championships! Their creed: make your own coffee: it’s cheaper and it’s better than a capsule! We meet the judges, coffee lovers and the candidates, among them Jérémie, who’s been thinking of nothing apart from the championships for weeks. He practices every day, alone or with his coffee roaster boss, who would be very proud to put a sign over the door of his bar: “Your Waiter is the Champion Barista of France 2014”.
