Backstage at the Euros | TF1 | Reportages

It’s the event of the year: France is hosting Euro 2016! With 51 matches held in ten stadiums and an expected 8 million visitors, France will be transformed during a whole month. Above all, Euro 2016 will be synonymous with celebration, but it is also a major economic event: football fans are expected to spend 1 billion euros in just one month. France is taking a big gamble:  with the economic and security aspects and social strains, the country cannot afford to make any mistakes. SWAT teams, supporters, restaurant owners, fan zone organizers, etc…. over several months, crews from Grands Reportages accompanied some of the people who will make this event a special occasion. In an exclusive, officers from the RAID and the BRI security forces opened their doors for several months. Full scale rehearsals at the Stade de France or on public transport systems and the protection of the teams as they travel around. They are the ones who have the onerous task of intervening if there’s a major crisis or a terrorist attack. For the supporters, the European championships have been in preparation for over a year. As is the case of Benoit, a huge fan of the French team, who is determined to make the most of the occasion: with his friends he is going to attend all the matches played by Les Bleus! And Benoit also intends to be noticed: he has a giant-size, homemade costume and car in the French colors! Restaurant professionals, too, are trying hard to cash the maximum turnover in just a few weeks. Christophe and his friends have undertaken the construction of a food truck to supply sandwiches in the Fan Zone in Lyon. Will they manage to make a profit from their investment of more than 40,000 EUR? We also saw from the inside how the Marseille Fan Zone was organized. It’s one of the most beautiful with an unrivalled view over the sea. 80,000 people are expected, an extraordinary challenge for Benjamin, one of the organizers, who has to ensure that the set up is ready in time. Steve, the Fan Zone presenter, also knows that the challenge for him is a major one: for the first time in his life he has to get the equivalent of a Stade de France hopping and bopping! An exceptional immersion backstage at Euro 2016.
