Hooligans and extremists: the violent young in France | M6 | Enquête Exclusive

Military training, street fights, punitive expeditions against immigrants… All over Europe the most radical of the extreme right is putting on more and more shows of strength. The favourite terrain for these small extremist groups: soccer stadiums. In order to combat violent and xenophobic supporters in France, a specialist unit has been created within the Interior Ministry. These policemen use new methods. At certain matches, volunteer supporters infiltrate the stands to identify the hooligans. Objective: ban the most radical supporters from the stadiums. However, in other countries of Europe, the hooligans continue to chant their racist slogans with impunity. In Ukraine most of these extremists are members of the “Patriots”, a neo-nazi movement that organises the harassment of Vietnamese immigrants. We were able to film their para-military training camp. In Greece, “the Golden Dawn” took 18 seats in parliament. This extreme-right wing party is riding the wave of social misery by distrubing food that they reserve only for Greek citizens. We also followed Alexandre Gabriac, the youngest regional councillor in France. Excluded from the Front National, he is the president of the Nationalist Youth. These are activists who use the anti gay marrage demonstrations to propagate their radical ideas. Their aim: to get noticed by organising “shock tactic” action.
