Food safety. Investigation in the back-kitchens in France | TF1 | Le Droit de savoir

Should people be afraid of what’s in their plates? Our crew investigated French kitchens aver a three months period. Dubious restaurants, supermarkets selling expired meats, illegal imports of damaged products… Each day, the French can find themselves, at home as well as in restaurants, in situations of food insecurity. We’we infiltrated the kitchens of one of the trendiest Parisian restaurant. The report is overhelming: expired products, deplorable hygiene… And yet, each day, more than 500 dishes are served there. Very serious problems can also be found in the most controlled food trade in France: supermarkets. On November 22nd, 2004, a supermarket of Gard closes its doors. In this supermarket, the practice of “rewrapping” was an every day practice, expired meats were disguised as prepared dishes and then sold at lower prices. Our investigation shows that “rewrapping” is a widespread practice in superpermarkets.
