THE GARE DE LYON TRAIN STATION, THE GREAT FEBRUARY RUSH | M6 | 66 minutes

It’s one of the SNCF’S (National Rail Company) busiest weekends: the great winter vacation change-over! Between February 14 and 16, hundreds of thousands of users will pack the platforms of the Gare de Lyon. All heading for the ski resorts! In order to deal with the great rush, the SNCF puts an extraordinary plan of action into effect. This is the Paris train station most affected by the February vacation. Half a million travellers will pass through over the three days of mass departures. Hoping that trains will leave on time, 750 staff work in shifts. During this weekend we accompanied members of the Gare de Lyon family. Dominique is Station Attendant, the man who turns up at just the right time to deal with the unexpected. And Anthony is the friend to the accompanied children with the Junior et Cie department who are traveling without Mom or Dad. For him the winter vacation is a guaranteed storm. And then there are those in the shadows who assure our safety in the station. The officers of the railway police. Hunting down the pickpockets and baggage snatchers. However, the Gare de Lyon is also an oasis of calm, luxury and class: the Blue Train, a mythical brasserie founded in 1901 during the renovation of the station at the turn of the century Belle Époque. Here, the art of the table blends with theatrical show. An invitation to travel over a weekend at the Gare de Lyon.
